Welcome to Canine and Equine Physiotherapy Training. CEPT_doublesnake_medlogo

Canine and Equine Physiotherapy Training was set up to fulfil a need as an alternative route for the education of veterinary physiotherapy students. Since its inception in January 2009, Canine and Equine Physiotherapy Training (CEPT) has set as its guiding principles the quality of education, the standard of the qualification, and the needs of the students.

CEPT is a non-profit organization.

Aims of CEPT

To provide a sound and high quality education for individuals wishing to become veterinary physiotherapists (aka animal physiotherapists), and thus be able to provide physiotherapy for animals needing specialist attention after injury, surgery, or for maintenance and support, including geriatric patients.

To pay attention to the needs of sporting animals, highlighting the specific injuries sustained during the course of their work, and thus provide a sound basis for developing a physiotherapeutic plan for these patients.

To provide an educational route for individuals wishing to qualify as veterinary physiotherapists, but do not  already have veterinary or physiotherapy qualifications.

Education with CEPT

In order to apply for the veterinary physiotherapy course, you need some form of higher education or further education qualifications, and a good working knowledge of animal care and handling, veterinary nursing being the obvious example. You do not need to be a veterinary surgeon or human physiotherapist, although holders of such qualifications may apply.

If you are unsure about whether your qualifications are accepted, or you want to find out more, please use the enquiry page.

Applications are being accepted for the October 2011 entry. Please see the Education page.
